Thank you for visiting my blog. My name is Matthew Fridg and I love to give away what God has given me and sincerely thank you for your support. I hope I can also receive from you what God has poured into your life. If you don’t mind, I would like to tell you a bit about myself.
I was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania, the hometown of actor Jimmy Stewart and self proclaimed “Christmas Tree Capital of the World”. Since my childhood, I’ve felt God’s call on my life to serve Him with everything He’s given me. At the beginning, it was pretending to play the piano on a seat cushion and lead my Ninja Turtles and GI Joes in worship. Nowadays, it has morphed into using media and music to spread God’s message of hope in the church and the world. During college at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), I really enjoyed leading worship for all my friends and classmates for our college ministry. At the same time, I got to work as a field cameraman for news stations in both Altoona and Johnstown, PA. After school, I staked down my tent in Pittsburgh and worked in the lighting department on several major feature films as well as many commercial spots. I got a chance to write and direct a couple of my own productions through my current employer PMI. My last short film, “Notes In The Valley“, was included in the Pittsburgh 250 initiative: Pittsburgh Neighborhood Narratives in 2008. Not long after moving to Pittsburgh, I got married to my beautiful wife and started leading worship at Word & Worship Church. Then Miriam arrived (she’s my daughter)!
At my heart, I am a storyteller. I love to use all forms of art to convey a message. As a worship leader, I love God’s people and the challenge of weekly creating an atmosphere where they can connect to Him through musical expression. As a visual artist, I love using film, animation and digital mediums to convey a compelling message through the screen.
So far I look at my life and see that God has been so faithful every step of the way. He gives us exactly what we need to do the job He’s called us to. I enjoy helping others succeed and passing on what God has given me to anyone who I can help.
