In the Old Testament, God’s chosen people, Israel, were instructed to build the tabernacle. This was the house in which God ‘s presence resided. The high priest would enter this house and into the very presence of God once a year on behalf of the people.

Today, as God’s people, the Church, we do not need priests to do this for us anymore. Through Jesus Christ, the presence of God has been made available to all people who chose to serve God and accept His saving grace.

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.” ~Hebrews 10:19-22 (NLT)

I believe that worship is the attitude of our minds and hearts in which we clothe ourselves in to meet God in His presence. That attitude is the “proper response to God, from the heart, by which we put God above everything and everyone else.” Skip Heitzig.

As a worship leader, I strive to use music to express my gratitude for a holy God. Although our expressions may differ in style, sound or instrumentation, it’s because of Jesus Christ and his saving grace that we can always give him our whole being in devotion, daily.
